It was days before the prenuptial shoot when I received a call from a guy inquiring if I was informed about the said shoot to be held in 2 days. And to my surprise I have no idea of who the guy is nor about the scheduled shoot. It was only when the guy (who happens to be the groom) informed me that it was my good friend designer and their overall wedding designer, Mr. Aavel Bacudio, who referred me to do the makeup for the couple. I found it very sweet, and not to mention very rare, to have the groom in charge and the one who is busy preparing for the bride’s look.(Kudos JO!) Seeing the couple for the first time made me very happy and excited at the same time. They are such a cute and very young couple, and working with them was very light as if we’re just playing.

Serious and Bashful. That was my first impression seeing the bride for the first time, with no makeup on. But I should say she is a very beautiful woman; a typical Filipina who doesn’t have much inclination to makeup. I realized I was wrong with my first impression with Patricia, she is not a serious and bashful type of woman, but rather she is the exact opposite. She is such a lighthearted, cheerful and very gay. GAY I meant jolly and also GAY that she knows how to speak “our” language and act like one. The entire “pre-nup” shoot was very tiring but due to Patricia and Jo’s bubbly character, it wasn’t exhausting at all.

And the day finally came. My anticipation to work with the couple again gave me the excitement and enthusiasm. Having been able to know Patricia as a jolly and cheerful woman, gave me the idea of how will I apply my craft. I gave her a natural look with the touch of pink to bring out the happy personality she has within.

And there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the groom with tears of joy as he watches her bride walking down the aisle. And hearing him say "Ei. Leo, Thanks for making my bride very beautiful. Ang ganda ganda ni Pat!"

Then the rain started to pour down and instead of the couple being worried so much about their reception, they stayed calm and knowing its a blessing from Above. Indeed the couple was blessed with so much love and happiness from each other and from the people around them.

And of course, the day isn’t exhausting at all especially with the presence of my dashing and effortlessly beautiful SLF (Super Loved Friend) Aavel Bacudio, who was overflowing with energy and happiness throughout the day…  Never a dull moment with Avel as always. Thanks SLF!

Wedding: MELANIE CALUMPAD a.k.a. KYLA: A MOMENT OF SERENITY WITH HER SOON TO BE HUBBY

I have been a great fan of a fairytale love story since birth. How all the story ends in a very happy ending; how the prince finally met and marry her pincess and how they lived happily ever after. And that fantasy contributed on how I loved and continually loving working in the wedding industry. And what more satisfying than seeing your loyal client/"alaga" in the showbiz industry bloom from a very sweet little girl to a dashing and successful woman. I have seen and personally did most of KYLA's looks ever since she started as a talented young singer and until now that she's one of the country's most talented and versatile singer. The first time I've heard about her getting married to her longtime boyfriend RICH, I didn't believe at all not until it was made known through media and was also confirmed by the couple themselves. It was a fairytale ending for me as THE RNB PRINCESS FINALLY TYING THE KNOT WITH THE KING OF BASKETBALL COURT.

When KYLA informed me to do her makeup for this shoot, I didn't hesitate at all and also good thing I was available on the said date. So finally on June 16, after almost 3 hours of travel, we arrived at the beautiful beach resort in Batangas. One challenge to face is the wind along with the scorching heat of the sun. So i made use of airbrush coz the makeup will look better and at the same time it will last longer.

One thing that I noticed on every bride or soon to be bride that I worked with is the "glow" that is very visible on their faces especially after putting the makeup on. It only shows genuine happiness within that radiates outside.

The shoot lasted til evening but working with the entire team was a BLAST. And of course seeing the couple having a great time and making you feel that love is in the air just blew tiresome away.

Congrats to soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Rich Alvarez and looking forward for the big day, when you finally   exchange "I DO's".

             Last May '11, i was asked by Suki Salvador (Creative Director of Mega Mag.) to do the July Cover. And to my surprise it will be my Favorite, my Muse & a good Friend of mine, Divine Lee. I've been working with Divine for the past 10 years and I consider her not just a loyal client but moreover she is one of my client who then became a very good and loyal friend of mine. Being with her as she was starting as a model and seeing her today as one of the most influential trendsetter slash most read fashion blogger slash "becky" queen slash one of the most successful businesswoman; I can really say that she  is a living sample of how time and experience can beautifully transform a person. And funny it may seem, that the concept for the MEGA July issue is "The Black Swan", and Divine Lee is just perfect to be their cover.

           At first we were very afraid because the scheduled photoshoot date didn't fit my schedule. So i called Divine to inform her and she herself is afraid as well since she wanted me to do her makeup and also not to mention this will be her COMEBACK for the magazine and as the solo COVER. Luckily for us that the schedule was move and everything just seem to be perfect. On May 28, 9:00 AM we arrived at the said venue and Divine was there looking so excited and confident. She was afraid that the makeup peg wont fit her so I just simply comforted her "Akong bahala gurl!"

            The makeup PEG is a very smokey dark blue eyes with a dash of gold; a high-fashion makeup approach that I was afraid at first if it will make Divine looking beautiful still with that kind of makeup on. So I gave Divine "The Black Swan" inspired makeup and the PEG of the creative directors but still incorporating beauty, I made sure that Divine would look beautiful and natural still. Seeing her looking beautiful after I did the makeup and seeing the final output on the magazine itself makes me very happy and satisfied. Happy that I had a great time working with Divine and the entire team and satisfied that we had achieved their concept and of course it only proved that this was Divine's comeback; that she's indeed the next issue!
