Wedding: KYLA: The RNB Princess finally said "I DO"

Wedding date: November 28, 2011
Wedding Venue: Santuario De San Antonio
Photographer: Nice Print
Hairstylist: Rowena Sonido

The day has finally come for the much awaited wedding of a very good friend of mine Melanie Calumpad a.k.a. Kyla to her long time boyfriend Rich Alvarez. I should say it wasn’t only Kyla and Rich who has been waiting for this day to come but personally I’ve been waiting for this day to come as well (and not to mention the entire people who’ve been patiently waiting after the couple’s announcement of their engagement months ago). It was as if just yesterday when we spent the entire day having a blast as we did the prenuptial shoot at Batangas (http://leoposadas.blogspot.com/2011/07/wedding-melanie-calumpad-aka-kyla.html) and finally we are here for the wedding day itself.

Bride feeling the butterflies in her stomach

Days before the wedding day, Kyla has been bogging me with regard to her look for her wedding day. I personally understand her since she just wanted to look best for her special day and also considering the fact that 10/10 brides that I worked with act the same as she did. I just somehow feel pressured and at the same time honored and humbled after reading a write up published at Inquirer (http://entertainment.inquirer.net/22493/a-kyla-kind-of-day) as everyone’s anticipating for Kyla’s big day.

Kyla's Peg for her wedding look

But one thing that I was a bit concerned about is that they chose “Old Hollywood” as a theme for the wedding itself. She even sent me pegs for her makeup and hairstyle just to fit in the theme that they chose. Its not a problem at all when a client has a specific preference for her look but my concern is that I didn’t want it look very "costumey" just to stick with the theme and also I didn’t want her to look just the same as the other (since I assumed that red lip will be seen to most women just to fit in the “Old Hollywood” theme). So I told her to just leave it to me and assure her that all eyes will be on her alone and she will surely stand out among the rest(I even joked that my peg for her wedding is a virgin saint coming down from above).

The day before the wedding day Kyla requested for us to come as early as 9:00AM even if the church ceremony will start at 3:00PM. Primarily because she is too excited and so anxious at the same time that she wanted us to be there so early (given the fact that it will just be her we will be working with). And so we arrived at Manila Peninsula as per requested by the bride herself. The first thing that captured our eyes was the simple yet very beautiful looking wedding gown made by Kyla’s good friend Cocoy Lizaso. The gown is just perfect for Kyla. Simple yet elegant. Effortless yet enchanting. Adjectives that perfectly fit the look that I have always envisioned for a perfect bride and especially now that it will be for KYLA.

Before and After makeup look

The pegs that were sent to me before consists of looks that were very “Old Hollywood". A dramatic eye, red lips, pin curls hair just like that of 60’s siren. But none of these appeared on the look that we did  for Kyla. A simple combination of gray and taupe eyeshadow with a touch of pink on the upper lid instead of that  dramatic eyes; and a rich mauve lips instead of a full red lips. Plus a perfectly groomed eyebrow and a glowing pink blush. A look that made Kyla stand out among the rest and of course I always love imagining how the tears start to flow down the eyes of the groom as he watches his beautiful bride walking down the aisle(and it did happen! Peace Rich! :P )

Excited Bride :)

The wedding ceremony was perfect. It is very simple and solemn yet very beautiful and meaningful. Kyla was nervously waiting outside the door waiting for it to open while Rich was on the verge of crying while patiently waiting for the door to be open and to finally see his beautiful bride. Everyone's eyes were on Kyla as she walks on the aisle just as if a princess enters the room with everyone in awe of her beauty and elegance. Every moment was just perfect, every word uttered on their vow was heartfelt. IT WAS JUST SIMPLY PERFECT!

Church Setup

The NBC tent was given a stunning setup with a touch of fairytale look. Indeed it just deserves the celebration of the princess and her King. The day didn't only end with overflowing foods and drinks but also numerous artists performed some of the favorite songs of the couple. It was a day worth remembering as Kyla the RNB Princess finally said "I DO" to the court King Rich Alvarez.

This is just the beginning of the happy ending that any fairy tale love story which Kyla and Rich has.

Congratulations and may you live happily ever after....

Makeup PEG: Fresh, Young and Natural.

I have been working with Carla for a very long time and one of my favorite project we did together was during the POND's campaign. She is such an adorable, sweet, and very beautiful inside and out, and she is still until now. Michelle Asence-Fontelera, the owner of ZENZEST Philippines and a very close friend of mine has been eyeing Carla to be her new endorser for her products. That's why I was personally excited when Michelle informed me about the shoot with Carla as her new endorser.

During the shoot, Carla was the first one who arrived at the studio looking very fresh even though she had a shooting the night before. The day was full of laughter and endless stories especially that Michelle was there during the entire shoot and she just made the entire day fun and light as she is one of the gays during the shoot. And of course not to forget the mouthwatering foods that Michelle prepared for everyone.

One thing that I love with Carla is that she knows how to project and stand out yet still create a chemistry with anyone being paired to her. She just knows how to work it out and I can say the camera loves her of so well...

It was a pretty long yet fun day for all of us. It was fun working with these people. Congrats to ZENZEST and to my ever gorgeous friend Michelle Asence - Fontelera!!!

Fashion: VENUS RAJ AND NEIL ETHERIDGE: FOLDED AND HUNG

AD Campaign for F&H's  2011 Underwear Collection
Photographer: Ronnie Salvacion
Stylist: F&H Team
Makeup PEG: Smokey Sultry Eyes for Venus
Hairstylist: Nelson Cruz

I have to admit that am a big fan of beauty pageant ever since. I enjoy watching different ladies as they compete to bring home the crown. And of course I love seeing these women wearing makeup that just simply make them stand out while they are on stage. I can still remember how i enjoy doing makeup for some of the candidates who were joining different pageants in my hometown. It allows me to play, explore and learn on how to or what to apply so they will stand out among the rest of the ladies on the competition. And what a privilege to be able to work with a woman who brought honor to the country as she won the 4th Runner up during the Ms. Universe 2010. Though it is not my first time to work with Venus, since I was the one who did her first magazine cover for MEGA December issue. F&H owner Ronald Pineda is a very good friend of mine and he was actually the one who requested me along with Nelson Cruz to do the said shoot.

Venus Raj for MEGA December issue

Before the shoot I was planning to give Venus a very fresh, light and natural look which is far different from the usual makeup we see her (smokey fierce eyes). But upon arriving I learned that the peg will be a smoker, sultry, sexy eyes which fits since more of the layouts will be underwear.

It wasn't hard to work with Venus since she herself knows what she wants and what fits her and even on how to apply make up. She was indeed electrifying with how she worked with the photographer and I should say the camera loves her well.

Another thing I have to admit is that I am not a big fan of sports. I have tried engaging to some sports before but i guess sports doesn't love me that much as well. That's why gym has always been my way of engaging to physical activity. Anyways, another new endorser for the F&H underwear collection is Neil Etheridge, the Goal Keeper for the AZKALS Philippine football team. Neil is very tall and has very nice body and not to mention his skin is flawless which is why it wasn't much of an effort on my end.

Both Venus and Neil are effortlessly beautiful and sexy at the same time and they are just perfect to be the new endorsers for one of Philippine's best clothing and fashion brand that pushes fashion into another horizon.  Sassy, sexy, casual, and light which define F & H’s. Congrats and more powers to F&H and to our friend Ronald Pineda!!

Fashion: JAYA RAMSEY: SOUL DIVA

Album Cover for Jaya’s “All Souled Out”
Photographer: Pat Dy
Stylist: Liz Uy
Makeup PEG: Young, fresh and natural
Hairstylist: Rowena Sonido

Working with Jaya is just an example of one reason why I enjoy and love working as a make up artist. Imagine working personally with the person whom you were once just listening to, whom you used to just watch over the television. It is very enjoying and at the same time humbling that you get to work with people who were able to build their name on their industry.

I have been a big fan of Jaya ever since she started as a singer, and not to mention she is the woman behind the song “Dahil Tanging Ikaw” which I personally love and even try to mimic they way she sang the song. She is indeed the country’s one and only “Soul Diva”.

Busy doing some Retouches for Ms Jaya

at Work

I received a call 1st week of May from Louei Lizardo, the project coordinator of Universal Records inquiring about my service as I was personally chosen by one of their artist who will be releasing her new album in month time. And to my surprise it was Jaya herself who requested me to do her look for her upcoming abum. It was very exciting, flattering and at the same time a humbling experience that these people you used to watch or listen to would entrust to you their look for whichever event/purpose it may be. (Though it would not be the first time to meet Jaya since I used to see her inside the dressing room everytime I work with Kyla for Party Pilipinas every Sunday)

Inside Cover

They wanted to give Jaya a younger and fresh look for her new album. They also wanted to give Jaya a longer hair since she used to appear on television with short hair.

During the shoot, a simple yet very excited and enthusiastic Jaya arrived as she told me that she trust my work especially seeing Kyla everytime I do her makeup. She is very “kalog” and fun to work with which makes the entire shoot very light and enjoying. And also hearing her soulful music for the said album just made everyone feel chillax.
