Wedding: KYLA: The RNB Princess finally said "I DO"

Wedding date: November 28, 2011
Wedding Venue: Santuario De San Antonio
Photographer: Nice Print
Hairstylist: Rowena Sonido

The day has finally come for the much awaited wedding of a very good friend of mine Melanie Calumpad a.k.a. Kyla to her long time boyfriend Rich Alvarez. I should say it wasn’t only Kyla and Rich who has been waiting for this day to come but personally I’ve been waiting for this day to come as well (and not to mention the entire people who’ve been patiently waiting after the couple’s announcement of their engagement months ago). It was as if just yesterday when we spent the entire day having a blast as we did the prenuptial shoot at Batangas (http://leoposadas.blogspot.com/2011/07/wedding-melanie-calumpad-aka-kyla.html) and finally we are here for the wedding day itself.

Bride feeling the butterflies in her stomach

Days before the wedding day, Kyla has been bogging me with regard to her look for her wedding day. I personally understand her since she just wanted to look best for her special day and also considering the fact that 10/10 brides that I worked with act the same as she did. I just somehow feel pressured and at the same time honored and humbled after reading a write up published at Inquirer (http://entertainment.inquirer.net/22493/a-kyla-kind-of-day) as everyone’s anticipating for Kyla’s big day.

Kyla's Peg for her wedding look

But one thing that I was a bit concerned about is that they chose “Old Hollywood” as a theme for the wedding itself. She even sent me pegs for her makeup and hairstyle just to fit in the theme that they chose. Its not a problem at all when a client has a specific preference for her look but my concern is that I didn’t want it look very "costumey" just to stick with the theme and also I didn’t want her to look just the same as the other (since I assumed that red lip will be seen to most women just to fit in the “Old Hollywood” theme). So I told her to just leave it to me and assure her that all eyes will be on her alone and she will surely stand out among the rest(I even joked that my peg for her wedding is a virgin saint coming down from above).

The day before the wedding day Kyla requested for us to come as early as 9:00AM even if the church ceremony will start at 3:00PM. Primarily because she is too excited and so anxious at the same time that she wanted us to be there so early (given the fact that it will just be her we will be working with). And so we arrived at Manila Peninsula as per requested by the bride herself. The first thing that captured our eyes was the simple yet very beautiful looking wedding gown made by Kyla’s good friend Cocoy Lizaso. The gown is just perfect for Kyla. Simple yet elegant. Effortless yet enchanting. Adjectives that perfectly fit the look that I have always envisioned for a perfect bride and especially now that it will be for KYLA.

Before and After makeup look

The pegs that were sent to me before consists of looks that were very “Old Hollywood". A dramatic eye, red lips, pin curls hair just like that of 60’s siren. But none of these appeared on the look that we did  for Kyla. A simple combination of gray and taupe eyeshadow with a touch of pink on the upper lid instead of that  dramatic eyes; and a rich mauve lips instead of a full red lips. Plus a perfectly groomed eyebrow and a glowing pink blush. A look that made Kyla stand out among the rest and of course I always love imagining how the tears start to flow down the eyes of the groom as he watches his beautiful bride walking down the aisle(and it did happen! Peace Rich! :P )

Excited Bride :)

The wedding ceremony was perfect. It is very simple and solemn yet very beautiful and meaningful. Kyla was nervously waiting outside the door waiting for it to open while Rich was on the verge of crying while patiently waiting for the door to be open and to finally see his beautiful bride. Everyone's eyes were on Kyla as she walks on the aisle just as if a princess enters the room with everyone in awe of her beauty and elegance. Every moment was just perfect, every word uttered on their vow was heartfelt. IT WAS JUST SIMPLY PERFECT!

Church Setup

The NBC tent was given a stunning setup with a touch of fairytale look. Indeed it just deserves the celebration of the princess and her King. The day didn't only end with overflowing foods and drinks but also numerous artists performed some of the favorite songs of the couple. It was a day worth remembering as Kyla the RNB Princess finally said "I DO" to the court King Rich Alvarez.

This is just the beginning of the happy ending that any fairy tale love story which Kyla and Rich has.

Congratulations and may you live happily ever after....
